What’s That Weird Noise Coming from My Car? Part 1

As cars age, sometimes they make strange noises. You may hear squeals, clicks, or clunks. When you hear those sounds, you will wonder what they're coming from, and if they need your immediate attention. Like people, your car will tell you when something is wrong. In this first installment of, "What's That Weird Noise Coming from My Car?" we're going to cover brakes, the kinds of noises they make, and the causes of those noises.

    Why Won’t My Car Start?

Imagine your worst nightmare has come true: you're all ready for work, you get in your car, put the keys in the ignition and nothing happens. You try turning the keys again, expecting your car to start. Still nothing. You realize your car won't start. If you're car savvy, it's a double whammy because you know that pretty much anything under the hood can cause your car to not start.

    Why Is My Car Shaking?

If your car vibrates when you're driving, watch out. It can be a sign that you need to check the tires, or the rims for any bending, or the brakes. If your car continues to shake, the vibration could damage the tires and suspension.

Is Your Car Ready for Summer?

Summer 2015 officially starts on June 21. And in Kansas City that means we can count on sunshine (hopefully), barbecues, and vacations. Many people will pack up their cars and head out on the open road for the lake, camping, or even longer road trips to see all the wonders the world has to offer. The last thing you want is to be stranded on the side of the road or stuck at a car rental place with your summer plans ruined.

How to Know When to Change Your Brake Pads

The most important safety feature on your car is its brakes. Like most mechanical parts, the brakes require routine maintenance, especially brake pads. The brake pads clamp down on the rotor, which slows down and stops the car. Repeated use causes brake pads to wear down. Worn brake pads mean that the car won't stop as effectively, and that means danger.
